Wedding Highlights – A Home Transformed

June 22, 2017

We have all seen wedding venues change over the years, from traditional to anything goes. And in the case of Irene and Michael’s wedding, they maxed out their own home for a beautiful and personal reception to welcome people to after a ceremony in the park.

I visited the week before their event, and never could have imagined the transformation of the first floor of their home, outdoor patio and carriage house. From glowing paper stars, to sweet handmade wedding favors, to beautiful table runners. The effort this couple – and undoubtedly their family and friends – put into preparing their home was amazing, and the result was a true reflection of their creativity and warmth.

For their flowers, we talked about greenery with white, and bits of dark pink or maroon. Flowy things and ferns. Hints of gold. Since the bridesmaids each had different colors and patterns to their dresses, we fashioned slightly different bouquets to match. The couple even allowed me to add some greenery on their wall along the staircase. And who knew that the brass troughs we used for the rehearsal dinner would double to fit in front of the seating arrangement and in the windows so perfectly?
